DMV Dream 18U is part of our College Readiness Phase, providing athletes with an opportunity to continue developing, compete in a strong travel softball environment, and receive support as they pursue opportunities beyond high school.

We recognize that there is more than one pathway to college softball. Not every athlete needs to compete on a high-level showcase team to find the right collegiate opportunity.

 

Our 18U program focuses on continued development, competitive play, and helping each athlete identify opportunities that align with her academic goals, athletic ability, and desired college experience.

Meet Coach Carlton Smith

Coach Kevin Kreamer – Head Coach, 18U

The DMV Dream 18U team is led by Coach Kevin Kreamer.

Coach Kreamer's focus is on creating a competitive environment where athletes can continue developing their game while building the accountability, preparation, communication, and consistency expected at the next level.

At 18U, athletes are expected to take greater ownership of their development and performance. Coach Kreamer works with players to strengthen individual skills, improve softball IQ, compete as a team, and prepare for their next step after high school.

 

Competitive Development

DMV Dream 18U competes on a competitive travel softball schedule designed to provide athletes with quality competition and continued opportunities for development.

The team's schedule may include:

• Regional and travel tournaments

• Competitive events against quality programs

• Selected showcase and exposure events

• Opportunities to compete against programs at varying levels

• Events that support both player development and recruiting goals

Our objective is to put athletes in environments where they can compete, develop, gain confidence, and demonstrate their abilities.

Under Coach Smith’s guidance, the 18U team focuses on:

• Advanced Skill Development: Elevating players’ abilities to compete at the highest level.

• Strategic Play: Teaching advanced tactics and situational awareness to prepare for collegiate competition.

• College Preparation: Supporting players in navigating the recruitment process and building strong athletic and academic profiles.

Team Structure:

• C Teams: Focus on foundational skills and competitive play to bridge the gap to higher-level competition.

• B Teams: Offer advanced training and competitive tournaments to enhance players' recruitment profiles.

• A Level Showcase Teams: Compete in premier tournaments, providing maximum exposure to college scouts and recruiters.

College Recruiting Support

At DMV Dream, recruiting support is not limited to our Showcase teams.

Athletes on our 18U team who have the desire and ability to continue playing softball in college have access to DMV Dream's recruiting services and resources.

College softball opportunities exist at many different competitive levels. Our role is to help each athlete understand where she fits and develop an individualized recruiting strategy based on her goals.

 

Recruiting Services Include:

• Player Evaluation & Identification – Helping athletes understand their current level and identify appropriate collegiate opportunities.

• College Fit & School Identification – Identifying schools based on academics, athletic ability, intended major, location, campus preferences, and overall fit.

• Recruiting Profiles – Helping athletes build and maintain the information college coaches need to evaluate them.

• Highlight & Skills Videos – Guidance on creating and updating recruiting video content.

• College Coach Outreach – Helping athletes communicate professionally and consistently with college programs.

• Camp & Clinic Strategy – Identifying prospect camps, clinics, showcases, and other opportunities that align with an athlete's recruiting goals.

• Recruiting Education – Helping athletes and families understand recruiting timelines, communication, evaluations, and expectations.

• Ongoing Recruiting Guidance – Helping athletes adjust their strategy as their interests and opportunities develop.

 

Finding the Right Opportunity

College recruiting isn't limited to showcase-level athletes.

Every athlete develops differently, and every recruiting journey is different. Our goal isn't to push athletes toward programs that aren't the right fit simply for the sake of saying they were recruited.

Instead, we help athletes identify programs where their academic profile, athletic ability, career interests, and personal preferences align with what a college program is looking for.

 

The goal is not simply to find an opportunity.
